Marina Vesic is an Austrian based composer and music producer. Known also as Black Marine, she is an award-winning avant-garde composer. Classically trained in composition, orchestration and piano at The Music Academy, University of Belgrade, ELAK Institute Vienna (electro-acoustic composition), STEIM Institute (electronic music workshop where she created her instrument crackle box) in Amsterdam, and with her doctorate in music science at the Institute for popular music, The University of Music and Performing Arts, mdw, Vienna, Austria.

She collaborates with New York Ensemble “Composers Concordance”. In this concert season 2024-2025 she will have a world premiere of her piece “The Electrified Alien Waltz” on the 13th March 2025, which will be performed at the Austrian Cultural Centre in NYC. Her electronic composition will be featured on an album for Composers Concordance Records Motion Électronique. This event is part of Composers Concordance 13th Annual Comp Cord Festival “MOTION”. The festival will take place on Friday May 30th at 7pm at Silvana Harlem, 300 W 116h St, New York City. Vesic has written compositions across a wide range of musical styles. Her works has been performed on a different stage: after her world premiere with electronic piece “Major Tom” at The Institute STEIM in Amsterdam 2012, she premiered her first Opera “Sea of Moons” at the Festival of Contemporary Music in Jakarta in 2014. In the same year she performed her multimedia work “The Perfect Rose” a multi-cultural project connecting Denmark – Paris – Serbia, in Belgrade Culture Centre, Pop-Up Gallery which gave her a support from The Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia. Besides many awards, she got a certificate of appreciation for the outstanding performer in Solo International Performing Arts (SIPA) 2021 “The Great Light of Arts” in Solo, Indonesia.
As a music producer she is an expert in musical programs such as Logic, Cubase and ProTools. For musical score she uses Sibelius.
With her doctorate thesis “Border-crossing female artists between experimental and popular music since 1970 from Serbia and Bosnia -Herzegovina” she got attention to present her paper in London Symposium, EVA London 2020. With this research her goal is to make a platform for female composers.
As a singer-songwriter she performs her concert series “Stories from a Nightmare” in Los Angeles, California. She had her debut on November 19th 2024.
